Man Pours Hot Soup On Policeman In Ekiti (disturbing Pic)

A court in Ado Ekiti has remanded a dry cleaner 33-year-old Imole Emmanuel, for assaulting a police corporal, Kayode Akingbade, and conducting himself in a manner likely to cause disruption of public order.



Emmanuel, who was hit with a three counts charges on June 13 around 5:30 pm, is accused of pouring hot soup on the face of Akingbade a police officer and tried to wrest his gun from him. .

The charge sheet says: "That Emmanuel Imole on 13.06.2016 at 5.30pm at the Baptist crossing Ilawe Road, Ado Ekiti in Ekiti Magisterial District threatened violence Ado CPL joined Kayode Akingbade a police station new road Iyin, Ado Ekiti pouring hot stew on his face while on police uniform before attempting to fight with his rifle and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Article 86 (1) Penal code Cap C16 vol. 1 Laws of Ekiti state of Nigeria 2012.

"That Emmanuel Imole on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned judicial district to behave in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by pouring hot stew in the face and his police uniform and so he has committed an offense contrary to and punishable under section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol. 1 Laws of Ekiti state Nigeria 2012.


The police were said to be in the surveillance zone Baptist College in Ilawe road and the suspect was ordered to leave his area to allow the police carry out their operation.

Akingbade was said to have dashed to the canteen to eat about 30 minutes later only for the suspect to track him there and carried out the attack.

At the meeting held Monday, police prosecutor, Bankole Olasunkanmi revealed that five witnesses have lined up to testify against the defendant, but only three including the nominal plaintiff were in court.

Olasunkanmi begged the court for a short adjournment to allow study the file and assemble witnesses.

Defense attorney Gbenga Alabadan, urged the court to admit the accused person bail, emphasizing that the presumption of innocence was still in favor of his client.
Therefore, he prayed for bail for the accused.

Presiding Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo, in his ruling, he said there was enough evidence placed before the court by defense attorney to justify bail for the accused.

Ayenimo ordered the defense to submit to court with the bail application in writing to the defendant.

He ordered the defendants to remand prison and adjourned the case to July 7.
